Great Britain’s wakeboarding team secured five medals, including two golds, at two separate European Championships that concluded over the weekend. The medals were won across both cable and boat wakeboarding disciplines.
Stephanie Williams-Caller (39) and Dale Crossley (40) claimed gold medals at the IWWF Europe & Africa Youth and Senior Cable Wakeboard Championships held in Turin, Italy. Williams-Caller, who resides in Chamonix, France, was crowned the 2024 Masters Women (Over 30) Champion, while Crossley, from Farnborough, Hampshire, triumphed in the Veteran Men (Over 40) category.
Williams-Caller has been representing Great Britain in the Masters Women category since 2016. She is a two-time World Champion (2016 and 2018) and secured a silver medal at the most recent World Championships in 2022, only a few months after the birth of her first child.
Crossley has been a member of Team GB for 11 years and serves as the Team Captain.
Additional medals for the team were won at the IWWF Europe & Africa Wakeboard Boat Championships in Toutainville, Normandy, France.
Marley O’Toole (13) from Camberley, Surrey, earned a silver medal in the Boys’ category. Marley, who attends Ravenscote Junior School in Camberley, is unique within the team as the only rider who competes in both the boat and cable wakeboard squads for Great Britain. He is the reigning Boys’ National Champion in both disciplines.
Ross Phillips (40), originally from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, but now residing in Lincoln, secured a bronze medal in the Veteran Men category in France. His twin brother, Rich, from Corby, Northamptonshire, finished in 5th place. They were accompanied at the competition by Ross’s son, Ollie (12), who finished 9th in the Boys’ category.
The final medal for the team was won by Kate Waldron (44) from Ascot, Berkshire, who took home a bronze in the Veteran Women category.
The GB Team, which included 20 riders ranging in age from 12 to 58, finished fourth overall.
