Rx Networks Unveils TruePoint | LITE for Low-Power Precision GNSS

Sam AllcockBy Sam Allcock17/09/20243 Mins Read

Rx Networks, a leading provider of GNSS data services, has introduced a new correction service designed for power-sensitive applications requiring accurate location data. The service, TruePoint | LITE, delivers sub-metre and lane-level precision with global coverage, all while minimising power consumption.

This innovation is expected to benefit a wide range of devices, including smartphones, wearables, asset tracking systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Traditional GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) correction methods, such as Differential GNSS (DGNSS), demand frequent data updates, resulting in high power usage. However, TruePoint | LITE employs cutting-edge predictive technologies that reduce errors in GNSS data—such as ionospheric and orbital errors—while conserving battery life.

Ali Soliman, Head of Sales and Marketing at Rx Networks highlighted the breakthrough nature of the service. “With TruePoint | LITE, we are addressing the market’s growing demand for precise location data that does not compromise on power efficiency. This new service offers a globally available solution that enables a range of next-generation applications requiring both reliable accuracy and low energy consumption.”

Optimised for Power Efficiency

TruePoint | LITE has been developed from the ground up with a focus on reducing power usage. This makes it especially suitable for applications that are not designed to handle the energy demands of traditional GNSS corrections, which are often optimised for larger systems, such as in automotive or heavy machinery sectors. Instead, TruePoint | LITE minimises data transfer while ensuring accuracy, extending battery life for smaller, more power-conscious devices.

The service leverages proprietary technology that predicts and corrects key GNSS errors, particularly those caused by ionospheric disturbances. This allows TruePoint | LITE to maintain accurate positioning over longer periods, even in challenging conditions. Unlike conventional methods, this predictive approach ensures that data transfer and corrections are used more efficiently, significantly lowering the power consumption of the device.

Meeting Industry Demand

The launch of TruePoint | LITE has been welcomed by experts in the field. Dr Paul McBurney, Chief Technology Officer at oneNav, expressed enthusiasm for the new service. “We are excited to see innovative solutions like TruePoint | LITE come to market. Its approach to providing precise positioning with minimal power consumption aligns with the growing demand for efficient GNSS services across various applications.”

TruePoint | LITE aims to revolutionise the field of GNSS corrections for power-sensitive devices. By offering long-lasting accuracy and reducing the need for frequent data updates, it ensures that critical applications, such as wearables and IoT systems, can perform efficiently without sacrificing precision.

The service is now available for evaluation by companies looking to integrate accurate, low-power GNSS corrections into their products. For more information, or to schedule a demonstration, visit the Rx Networks website.

TruePoint | LITE is expected to pave the way for a new generation of smart devices, helping industries meet the growing need for high-precision location data while maintaining energy efficiency.
