The service launched earlier this year is designed to address the growing crisis in emergency response times; the service offers rapid, expert care directly to patients’ homes. From advanced diagnostics to immediate treatment, the initiative ensures that those seeking urgent medical assistance can access it.
“As someone who has worked in healthcare and with family locally, I have experienced the impact of delays first-hand; both my parents have been ill or fallen in the last year, and luckily, I was able to send them one of our private ambulances,” said Dave Hawkins, “I used to worry that if one of them has a fall, there might not be anyone nearby to help them.”
MET Medical’s Urgent Care at Your Door service is available to families across St Albans, Hatfield, and the surrounding areas. The team, which includes paramedics and Advanced Clinical Practitioners, is equipped to provide immediate on-site diagnostics, including ECGs and point-of-care blood analysis, emergency medication, fast access to scans such as X-rays or MRI and even transport to a private hospital if needed.
The idea for the service came to Dave Hawkins earlier in the year. “If you have elderly parents or young children, the subscription service is a no-brainer. If your elderly parent has a fall, then you don’t want them waiting on the floor for 16 hours; having signed up my own family, I have the peace of mind that if anything happens, they will get a fast response. I suspect as they get older, it may even mean we can keep them safely in their own home longer.”
Early users of the service in St Albans have praised its speed and professionalism. One local resident shared, “In response to a domestic emergency, they responded immediately out-of-hours and provided highly professional and caring paramedic and ambulance support. Our family are hugely grateful. Cannot recommend highly enough.”
In addition to its urgent care services, MET Medical also offers private ambulance transfers for journeys, supports the NHS 999 service with additional capacity and provides medical teams to cover events.
