E.ON Next customers who signed up for the company’s innovative Pledge tariff have collectively saved over £14 million in the past year. The tracker tariff, introduced in August 2023, has proven to be a game-changer for nearly 500,000 households across the UK.
The Pledge tariff, which promises to remain at least £50 below the industry-wide energy price cap, has attracted more than 400,000 customers since its launch. The tariff, designed to adapt to changes in the energy market, has seen three price reductions in the past year, resulting in a total saving of £411 for customers compared to the price cap.
Julian Lennertz, Chief Commercial Officer of E.ON Next, expressed pride in the company’s achievements. He said, “We’re really proud we’ve delivered this saving of over £14 million for our customers in the last year alone. Whether it’s innovative game-changing tariffs, new EV products, or the latest in heat pumps, solar, or home batteries, we’re 100% living up to our role as the playmaker in the energy transition—taking action to make things happen and help our customers by making new energy work.”
The Pledge tariff is a 12-month fixed-term product currently priced at £1,518, based on average annual consumption. It tracks the price cap and adjusts quarterly, ensuring that customers always pay less than the cap. The tariff is available to both new and existing customers who pay by Direct Debit and comes with the added benefit of no exit fees.
Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Many E.ON Next customers have taken to Trustpilot to share their satisfaction with the Pledge tariff. Anthony, one such customer, described the tariff as a “game changer,” awarding it five stars. He commented, “I was already on E.ON’s Next Pledge tracker. However, as I was an early adopter of this tariff, it was due to run out. E.ON Next contacted me to say a new tariff essentially the same was available, so I could extend the period of the tracker. It was simple enough to go online and change to that. Overall, I am pleased with the effect of the tracker, which follows the rise and fall of the price cap to maintain the lower price of my bill.”
Another customer, Jenny, also rated the tariff five stars, saying, “I’ve had fantastic customer service since my first query about moving to E.ON Next. This was really refreshing. Add to that the use of 100% renewable electricity and the pledge of the lower-than-price cap tariff—that’s a no-brainer.”
