Global electrification leader ZAPI GROUP has announced the acquisition of UBIQUICOM, a real-time locating systems (RTLS) provider specialising in solutions for manufacturing, logistics, and transport. The acquisition enhances ZAPI Group’s automation portfolio, providing original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with more comprehensive systems that increase efficiency and safety in material handling and manufacturing processes.
The move comes as automation continues to reshape industries worldwide, with real-time location technology increasingly recognised for its potential to streamline operations. RTLS solutions like those developed by UBIQUICOM enable the precise tracking of assets, vehicles, and people in production environments, providing critical data that can be used to optimise workflows and improve safety protocols. For the logistics and transportation industries, the integration of RTLS represents a powerful tool to meet the growing demands for efficiency and precision.
Mr Giannino Zanichelli, founder and owner of ZAPI Group, welcomed UBIQUICOM to the group, describing the acquisition as a significant step forward in ZAPI’s journey to enhance its portfolio of automated and electrified solutions. “The acquisition of UBIQUICOM is an exciting milestone as ZAPI Group continues to diversify its portfolio and grow its capabilities to serve the global automated guided vehicle (AGV) and material handling sectors,” Mr Zanichelli said. “This strategic development enables us to broaden the spectrum of value-added solutions and integrated systems available to our OEM customers.”
ZAPI Group, already a major player in the electrification sector, serves OEMs with a wide range of electrification and automation solutions. Its portfolio includes electric motors, inverters, controllers, high-frequency battery chargers, and other critical components designed for AGVs, material handling equipment, and warehouse robotics. By adding UBIQUICOM to its roster, ZAPI Group significantly expands its automation expertise, integrating location-based solutions that are expected to drive new levels of operational efficiency and worker safety.
UBIQUICOM, based in Italy, has built a strong reputation for its innovative RTLS products that support the accurate monitoring of assets and workflow management in complex industrial environments. Its solutions allow operators to streamline processes by tracking equipment, raw materials, and personnel, improving both safety and productivity on the shop floor. Stefano Sarasso, UBIQUICOM’s founder and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about joining forces with ZAPI Group. “We are thrilled to pair our expertise with an industry leader such as ZAPI Group,” Mr Sarasso stated. “Our track record in developing RTLS solutions for production, supply chain, and logistics sectors complements ZAPI Group’s existing system integration solutions and advances its electrification mission.”
The acquisition is also a part of ZAPI Group’s broader strategy to establish itself as a comprehensive systems integrator for electrification and warehouse automation. The group’s roster of companies—now including UBIQUICOM—also includes Best Motor, BlueBotics, Delta-Q Technologies, Inmotion Technologies, Schabmüller, ZIVAN, ZTP, and 4E-Consulting. With this acquisition, ZAPI Group has positioned itself as a key provider of end-to-end solutions, giving OEMs access to a portfolio of products designed to meet evolving demands in the AGV and material handling industries.
The acquisition of UBIQUICOM reflects the company’s ongoing investment in technologies that support the future of automation. With RTLS now part of its offerings, ZAPI Group aims to continue enabling safer and more efficient manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics environments globally.
