From Bangkok to the Baltic: Cornish Rattler

Lucy ContrinoBy Lucy Contrino20/05/20254 Mins Read

Crosses Continents in new Export Deal

Two countries. Two continents. Two wildly different climates. One unmistakably Cornish cyder.

Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm has announced that its best-loved Rattler brand is heading overseas for the first time, launching this spring in Finland and Thailand as part of a new three-year global export agreement, with Germany and Denmark to follow later in the year.

Already crowned the UK’s most loved cider for the second consecutive year in a nationwide survey by Savanta, Rattler’s bold, refreshing flavour is now set to win over drinkers from the snow-dusted saunas of Scandinavia to the sun-soaked shores of Southeast Asia.

Whether you’re sipping in the midnight sun or in 30-degree tropical heat, Rattler proves that great cyder tastes just as good wherever you are – and whatever the weather.

The new export partnership with global drinks distributor Cheers Global gives the Cheshire-based firm exclusive rights to distribute Healeys’ award-winning cyder internationally.

Craig Johnstone, Managing Director at Cheers Global, said: “Healeys, with its diverse portfolio of brands including the Rattler fruit variants, is extremely well positioned to be positively received globally.

“Both Finland and Thailand have a strong appreciation for cider. In Finland, this is influenced by its Nordic neighbour Sweden, a major cider producer known for popular brands such as Kopparberg and Rekorderlig.

“Meanwhile, Thailand’s tropical climate and popularity as a tourist destination make it an ideal setting for enjoying refreshing drinks like cider.

“There is also a growing interest in real ciders that offer an alternative to the mass-produced options that many consumers are used to.

“Finland has a well-established cider market, with strong demand for flavoured and lower ABV options.

“In contrast, while Thailand’s market is still largely dominated by beer and spirits, popular tourist destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai are seeing growing interest in authentic cider,” he added.

“It’s incredibly exciting to see Rattler heading overseas,” said Managing Director Joe Healey.

“This marks a new chapter for us as we introduce our Cornish cyder to a global audience.

“Rattler is already a firm favourite here in the UK, and we’re thrilled to share a taste of Cornwall with new fans around the world.

“As a family business, it’s a proud moment – and one we’re looking forward to building on in the months and years ahead.”

Finland is launching with a range of Rattler ciders including Original Cloudy (5.5%), Strawberry & Lime, Pineapple, Berry (all 3.4%), Pear (4%), and Zero (0%), all in bottles , along with Cornish Gold (4.5%) in bottles and kegs.

Thailand is taking a broader range including Rattler Gold (4.2%) kegs, plus bottled Rattler flavours, Strawberry & Lime, Berry, Tropical, Pineapple, Peach, Mango (all 3.4%), Pear (4%), and Zero (0%).

They’re also importing Cornish Gold (4.5%), Traditional Scrumpy (6.8%), and 3L bag-in-box Flattler Original and Strawberry & Lime still ciders.

Founded in 1980, Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm is a proudly independent, family-run business nestled in the heart of Cornwall.

From its early days planting apple trees and restoring a 150-year-old farm, Healeys has grown into Cornwall’s largest cyder-maker – and the force behind the county’s first distillery in over 300 years.

Today, Rattler’s distinctive bite is available in a vibrant range of flavours, including Pineapple, Mango, Strawberry & Lime, and Peach, along with alcohol-free options for all to enjoy.

Blending traditional cyder-making with modern flair, Healeys has become a symbol of Cornish craftsmanship and innovation. Now, with its first international bottles/cans bound for Helsinki and Bangkok, Rattler’s journey from orchard to overseas is officially under way.
